Factors that Contribute to the Perception of...
Courtship was once viewed as a significant phase in a personââ¬â¢s life in which individuals participated in activities such as long walks in the park while under the supervision of adults and the community (Lloyd, 1991). Although men would only act on courting behaviors when they proved to have the means to provide for a future family, the activities did not involve an excessive amount of money spending like it does today. While sexual exploitation has been used by many throughout the years, individuals are becoming more aware of the tactics and cues used by one another. Men and women casually date multiple individuals and deceive each other to increase their chances of sustaining a mate, whether it be for a short-term or long-term periodâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦As in the study with men, women were asked to view pictures of other women depicting specific cues that could be associated with exploitability. In correspondence to the menââ¬â¢s study, the participating women f ound cues that depicted women as ââ¬Å"easy,â⬠flirtatious, promiscuous, and intoxicated to significantly correlate with exploitability; while cues such as anxious, intelligent, and shy had a negative correlation. The study concluded that both men and women are aware of the cues used in order to sexually exploit an individual. One can further conclude that women who are aware of such cues use them as a means to attract a mate as well (Goetz et al., 2013). While many individuals are in search for a lifelong partner, others are eager to casually date for a short period of time. Although many studies suggest men are prone to use tactics for short-term mating and women prefer long-term mating (Haselton, Buss, Oubaid, Angleitner, 2005), women also acquire short-term mating techniques (Buss Schmitt, 1993). In the study measuring womenââ¬â¢s perception of exploitable tactics by Goetz et al. (2013), researchers looked at women who were more inclined to use exploitability tactics to attract a mate. Although the study found women generally were more likely to use non-exploitative cues, those individuals who were more

Journey into Night by Eugene ONeill and Macbeth by...
Supposed someone asked you to write a story about death. Would you fill it with strange and horrifying sounds and sights; gruesome acts and frightening ghosts like Macbeth? Or would you write about a seemingly normal family from the outside, where the unknown hides from behind common decisions and objects. First and foremost, Long Day Journey into night by Eugene Oneill and Macbeth by Shakespeare share a common theme with each other. The characters in both of these dramas lack communication with one another. Letââ¬â¢s examine Macbeth first. The playwright Macbeth begins with Macbeth, who is thane of Glamis and Banquo being introduced to the Weird Sisters after a victorious battle. The Weird Sisters or otherwise known as the Three Witches. The Three Witches convince Macbeth that he had a great destiny awaiting him. ââ¬Å" All hail, Macbeth! that shalt be king hereafter.â⬠(Shakespeare, Act 1, scene 3, line 53) Once Lady Macbeth hears of what the Witches have foretold her scheme starts brewing. She has one goal in mind and will do everything in her power to influence Macbeth to carry out her plans.Macbeth believes what these witches have ââ¬Å"prophesiedâ⬠so much that he is willing to get it at any cost. Lady Macbeth feels that Macbeth isnââ¬â¢t ââ¬Å"manâ⬠enough to carry out the deed of killing Duncan. ââ¬Å" When you durst do it, then you were a man; And to be more than what you were, you would be so much more the man.â⬠(Act I,scene VII, line 55-57) She use s Macbethââ¬â¢s weakness to convince him that heShow MoreRelatedEssay Prompts4057 Words à |à 17 Pagesvision of the work as a whole. Education Review Free Essays
Liting Wang Professor Feindert ENGWR 48007 April 2018 Critique of ââ¬Å"There is Need to Review Our Education Systemâ⬠The article ââ¬Å"There is Need to Review Our Education Systemâ⬠by Rhoda Kalema, a well-known author and title holder of ââ¬ËUgandaââ¬â¢s Forum for Women in Democracy as a transformative leader 1996â⬠², looks at some pressing issues that the education system of Uganda currently faces. There have been no proper mechanisms to foresee high-quality education offered in the country. She explains that the experience of educated people shows their fear towards the future to come of the present day education around the world. We will write a custom essay sample on Education Review or any similar topic only for you Order Now If people do not have good education, they will not have a bright future. As a result, a country like Uganda might fall backwards and will be left very weak. It will affect the countryââ¬â¢s improvement in many ways. She suggests that, the education administration should start focusing on this situation. In addition, both learners and teachers face challenges that make it impossible for the education system to be ranked anywhere in the world. The government is aware of these challenges but offers no solution. Through critique, the key issues facing the primary, secondary, and vocational education in Uganda are examined. The opinion that is currently viable to revive this whole situation is an overall reviewing of the education system from the tradition one to a modern one that will suit the needs of the students and benefit them to fight in equal terms with the rest of the students, if not in the world but Africa. One of the most interesting factors with the education system is one that dates back more than four decades ago when fresh graduate teachers had the aim of literally igniting the classrooms. Shortly when they dive into the adventure towards greatness, these graduates understand that the procedure has been pre-decided and what is required of them is to stick within classroom limits of the syllabus. The objective here is to cover the syllabus, and any idea of presenting new substance is disapproved. There is no space for learning the informationââ¬â¢s purpose, an instructor in class is to educate and how well one educates is obvious through studentsââ¬â¢ execution in exams. Those who have different thoughts of possibly to energize the students, and familiarize them with new ideas and thoughts, influence them to think, and long to know more, are left to swallow their skills and watch as the students follow the old road of the low-quality education. Guardians and parents expect more from schools. They have high expectations that school will change their kids. Occasionally, they even observe the instructor as a wonderful professional of sorts, after all an educator could influence a child to learn. A typical presumption is that tutoring will shape the children and the instructor will be the one individual to guarantee this happens. In any case, things are not as basic and practical as they appear, and teachers face challenges explaining to parents that with this old education system, they should not expect much from their children. What the government has failed to understand is that Education is a public entity, which has a good aim of providing quality training with a specific end goal to reduce variations (instruction as an equalizer). Framework change should address parts of value and correspondence and additionally the more extensive quality objective. The change procedure must be incorporated, problematic, and transformative for there to be substantial outcomes for all students. An intricate procedure must be acknowledged through community-oriented associations amongst government and other key players like guardians, current society, and the private area. Sometimes individuals expect too much from old system framework models to deliver present day 21st-century skilled students. Uganda, like the rest of Africa, has a considerably young populace that forms an important part of the human resource. The youth forms the vital group that is thought to take Africa to the next African Rebellion urged by education and training. Based on the problems that the Ugandan education system is facing, the following are some of the ways that can help redeem the learners from surging into the problematic conditions just like their predecessors. The authorââ¬â¢s argument is presented in an organized and visually cluttered manner. The author presents his points with illustrations cited well from the article. The author points out the most exciting factors with the education system. ââ¬Å"Everyone in the country and even those outside who have ever experienced a balanced education about 25-30 years ago are in pain over what is happening in the education sphereâ⬠. As evident from the article, shortly when they dive into the adventure towards greatness, these graduates understand that the procedure has been pre-decided and what is required of them is to stick within classroom limits of the syllabus. The objective here is to cover the syllabus, and any idea of presenting new substance is disapproved. Another factor that makes the article organised is the avoidance of placing unnecessary quote in the article. Instead the author options to explain to bring out the main points. For instance, in order to better understand the problems that face the education system because of government failureâ⬠¦ ââ¬Å"I would like to reflect on several aspects that I have observed, which will bring doom to our education sector, unless a review is done immediately and aggressivelyâ⬠, the author puts the points down as illustrated below without filling the essay with unnecessary quotes. The author has concrete evidence that he uses to make logical appeals and the strength of this posting is rooted in the authorââ¬â¢s ability to bring out points to illustrate the failures that are evident to every reader of the article. Anything that contributes to meeting the huge needs of the education systems in Africa is a positive thing, such programs or projects are driven by people who want to serve the general good of the country in the area that, as a reminder, is the top priority of all priorities. The impression that oneââ¬â¢s gets is that there is a desire to be involved in proposing the beginnings of a solution, a standard foundation for teaching that will integrate specific local features and at the same time train future citizens of an interconnected and culturally very mixed world. A change of school learning system will reflect this concept, and it is an interesting one. In conclusion, the author has managed to create a list of reasons that would help the government and relevant stakeholders argue their case mostly for naught. The important thing is that there are on-going discussion and dialogue, and adjustments constantly being made to ensure the consistency at country level and then ideally, at the level of each regional African community, of an educational offering that necessarily has to be diversified. This is also one of the recommendations from the summary of the debate that we must have high-level, national education authorities, which must be separate and independent from the governments. They should also be tasked with the responsibility of managing the fundamental choices affecting education systems in the long term, to set a course that is not changed every time there is a change in government. Financial Accounting Cost Accounting
Questions: Describe the company that you currently work for, have previously worked for, or would like to work for in the future. Determine at least two (2) compelling reasons that this company should prepare and manage a budget. Predict the two (2) most likely positive and negative financial outcomes for this company if it properly or improperly performs effective budgeting. Outline a high-level budget plan for the company. In your high-level budget plan, recommend the most appropriate budgeting phases for the company. Propose two (2) methods and techniques that the company should use to manage its budget over time in preparation for the fact that budgets are ever changing. Justify your response. Imagine that the company is facing a financial challenge that is causing the actual amounts of money that it spends to become significantly off target from its budgeted amounts. Prepare an action plan to resolve the budget misalignment. In your action plan, recommend at least one (1) budgeting technique to resolve the budget and actual discrepancies. Provide a rationale for your response. Answers: Introduction Budget can be stated as a financial plan that aids the company like an estimate and helps in evaluating the future scenario of the business. Hence, it is an estimation of future cost. In reality, budgetary control is linked to the budget. Effective budget is the need of the hour and an ongoing process. Beyond question, a wise budget is one that keeps on moving and brings positive yield to the organization. Going by my specialization, I will prefer to join Cisco. In reality, there are many deficiencies when it comes to comparison with other companies owing to the budget. The inefficiency in the system does not lead to full resource utilization. This highlights the significance of budget. I prefer Cisco owing to the wide range of products, services, and solutions delivered by it. As I am from the IT background therefore joining Cisco would be an added advantage because it is engaged in designing and manufacturing of internet protocol and various other products that are linked to information technology. The company group its products into many categories like Switching, collaboration, wireless, data center, etc. Reason for having Budget It is important for Cisco to have a budget into practice. Firstly, the performance needs to be enhanced and in order to do that it is essential to have a strong budget into practice. This will helps to keep a strong note of the income and expenses (Albrecht et. al, 2011). As Cisco is catering to wide range of products therefore, budget is important, as it will help in providing a detailed plan. Execution will becomes better and there will be a strong awareness regarding the expenses. This will lead to fulfillment of goals. Secondly, in order to grow and bring further progress it is important to have a strong budget into operation. Budget helps to track the deficiencies and steer the business in the correct direction and for healthcare, it is of utmost importance as it helps in meeting the needs. Positive and Negative Outcomes If the budget is properly implemented then it will bring positive result to the division. It will act as a mechanism for evaluation, as well as performance management. This will aid the management in taking proper and relevant steps and will act as a control for the organization. This will helps in regulating the activities of the entire organization. Secondly, if the budget is followed properly it will lead to conformity of the plans and policies thereby providing a valid direction. Planning and coordinating will be easily done with the help of budget. In short, it can be said that budget will act as a performance evaluation because the present action will be compared with the pre-determined ones (Williams, 2012). On the hand there are negative implications too if the company performs the part of the budget in an improper manner. The expenses will be left unchecked that may lead to potent issues and hence, the cash flow will be impacted. Moreover, it might lead to serious dent in the income statement (Horngren, 2011). Secondly, the desired goal of the healthcare will not be achieved, as there will be deviation from the proposed goal. High-level Budget Plan Budget Phases for Cisco A high- level budget plan can help Cisco in backing up the strategies and working. The new model or the plan can help the company in identification of new opportunities and even generating funds for the business. Managing Cash Flows Management of cash flow is one of the toughest challenges that help the business to manage the cash flow. For Cisco, cash flow statement is vital because it will enable the company to maintain the cash flow and pay the bills at the specified time. The projection, evaluation and of cash flow will help the manager in managing the business performance (Williams, 2012). Budget Deviation Analysis Budget projects the figures that are needed to be spent and earnings that will be received during a specified period. Budget deviation analysis is important in comparison of the effects and compares what is expected. This analysis will help in stating whether the plans are adhered to and what steps can be taken into consideration for adjusting the budget in future (Durry, 2011). For Cisco, it is important, as it needs to maintain a strong hold in the market. Budget Phases The four phases of budget are formulation of budget, Approval of budget, execution of budget and oversight of budget. From my point of view, the oversight of the budget and its execution are the two important phases. Oversight of the budget is vital because it is audited in this step and needs strong action by the executives to strengthen the findings of the audit. Secondly, budget execution is the most important because money allocation is done in this step (Horngren, 2011). In the light of changing circumstances the two techniques that can be used is incremental budgeting and flexed budgeting. The incremental budgeting is one that merges the cost traced from the past accounting period with certain additions (Spiceland, 2011). The additions are used to focus two main segments that are purchase costs and business volume. Secondly, the flexed budgeting is needed to flex the normal budget. It is accurate in nature and helpful for the managers (Horngren, 2011). For Cisco, this will help in great way as the budgets tend to change and this will act as cushion. Action Plan If the actual money is more than the budgeted plan, it signifies that there is non-alignment. In this scenario, corrective actions need to be taken. The payment, receivable cycle needs to be checked and set accordingly. Secondly, the weak area needs to be noted and assessed that will help in removing the deficiency. Thirdly, the problem can be removed by following an alternative plan and ensuring that the system of cash is not affected (Drury, 2011). Flexed budget is the technique that can be used in the changing scenario and when the budget mismatch. In this technique, managers can provide vital news that leads to an achievable budget and an optimistic one (Drury, 2011). The good and worst result is evaluated on a bigger perspective and better decision making arrives from here. Therefore, flexed budgeting provides the managers to control the scenario and leads to a better outcome in the light of changing situations. It is settled in the changing scenario and hence, the most important technique when it comes to changes. By considering the financing options and the availability of resources, Cisco can implement a strong budget. It needs to assess the solution that is available and can develop a strong relationship with the customers. Moreover, the management must be made aware of the plans and should be evaluated periodically that helps to drive the business. Control mechanism along with strong plan will help the company to rectify the deficiencies, if any. This will bring a positive momentum and helps the company to grow in the long run. Conclusion From the discussion, it is clear that Cisco needs to implement a strong budget so that the management is done with ease and flexibility. The budget must correspond to the current situation and leads to strong benefits. More importantly, the utilization of budgeted techniques comes to the forefront and flexed is vital in the light of changing circumstances and external situations. By considering the............ Sociological Immagination Essays - Social Philosophy,
Sociological Immagination Dave Bradley Sociology 1A Jason Defay 12-6-99 My Sociological Imagination In my words, Sociological imagination is a way for a person to look at their life as a result of their interaction with society. It can explain why a life is lived with way it is lived and all events, decisions, successes, and failures that have occurred. In my life I have encountered many situations, problems, opportunities and events. I can use my sociological imagination to examine these and figure out why I am the way I am and also why I have chosen to do certain things When I was born, my father was in medical school. He was a practicing doctor by the time I was four and was the first person in southern California to get an MRI machine for his office. Being one of the pioneers of Magnetic Resonance Imagining has made him very successful and allowed for my family to be very well off. From this I have always considered being a doctor. My fathers job has always be so exciting, new, and progressive, that I have also wanted to go into medicine If the invention of MRI had not occurred in history I never would have grown up the way I did. My fathers success however has also significantly shaped another part of my life. He must have considered himself to good for my mom because he divorced her when I was seven. This has definitely shaped the way I go about making certain decisions. First of all I am the most faithful boyfriend in the entire world and also am quite clingy to my girlfriend. I suppose that she has filled the gap that my father left. I also pl an to be faithful to the woman I choose to be my wife. Without the invention of MRI and even without living in the technologically advancing society we live in, I wouldnt be this way because my father wouldnt have left. Other historical events that have shaped both me and society are the Cold War and the economy of recent years. When I was a boy I began to learn about the Cold War and communism. I was taught that the reason for the Cold War was to make sure that we as a country stayed strong in order to keep communism from spreading to American and destroying our free way of life. I was also taught that freedom and capitalism are great because there is always incentive for hard work in our society. I remember watching Rocky IV and thinking how horrible it must be to live in a communist society. Because of these events I can easily say that I am a capitalist and am happy to live in a capitalist society. This feeling has only grown stronger in recent years. The success of the economy has given me such and interest in economics and business that I have taken it upon myself to do market research and basically figure out how to make money in the stock market. I dont believe I would be such a strong capit alist if it had not been either for the national feelings of hatred for communism that soaked into me during the Cold War or the current state of the stock market that I have found incredibly interesting. I also have made certain choices about what activities to partake in that I feel are a result of society. Society puts such a crown on the athlete that it has transpired into the popularity hierarchy of high school and below. In these institutions the guys with the most friends are the athletes. This also affected and me and gave me ambition to play sports in high school. I wanted to be cool. Where I may never have taken up basketball; it became a huge part of my junior high and high school experience. In addition to this, I have been affected by the governments anti- drug campaigns. Because of the ads on TV I dont want my brain to be like that on drugs. Also, I dont want to smoke or drink heavily. I dont know if this would have been the case had I grown up I another country

Quotes About New Year's Resolutions Want to get fighting fit? Or kick a bad habit? Make a New Years resolution and you are part of theà way there. The tricky part in making New Years resolutions is sticking to them. The loftier the resolution, the tougher it is to hang on to. It takes steely nerves and determination to live by what you resolve. The man who will not execute his resolutions when they are fresh upon him can have no hope from them afterward; they will be dissipated, lost, and perish in the hurry and scurry of the world, or sunk in the slough of indolence. Since, because its an extension of New Years Eve, smokers are already on a smoking roll and cannot be expected to stop abruptly on the stroke of midnight with so much nicotine in the system. Also dieting on New Years Day isnt a good idea as you cant eat rationally but really need to be free to consume whatever is necessary, moment by moment, in order to ease your hangover. Conflict and communication Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Conflict and communication - Essay Example Workplace conflict has become one of the most common issues that arise in many organisations today especially considering that individuals are increasingly being required to work in teams in order to achieve different objectives for their organisations (Esquivel & Kleiner 1997, p.89). Therefore, effective communication skills have become essential for the purpose of resolving conflicts in the workplace because they make it possible for those individuals who have differences to work them out constructively. Moreover, effective communication makes conflict resolution more efficient because individuals in the workplace have a means of making sure that the conflicts between then do not get out of hand. Conflict resolution has developed into a discipline that has a diverse number of theories designed to deal with the various conflicts that arise in the workplace. Most conflict resolution theories are aimed at ensuring that conflicts are resolved in as peaceful a manner possible. One of the most important theories of conflict resolution is the cooperative model which was developed by Morton Deutsch. This model aims at resolving conflict through encouraging cooperation between the opposing parties (Amazon & Shweiger 1997, p.101). Under this theory, it is essential for the aims and the nature of the dispute to be carefully analysed during negotiations in the attempt to resolve the conflict. According to Deutsch, there are two main orientations that result in conflict and its resolution and these are cooperation and competition (Deutsch 1999, p.5). The cooperative disposition of the parties involved in the conflict would eventually result in an atmosphere of trust in such a way that bo th parties would be willing to develop beneficial options for settlement. However, when both parties take on a competitive approach, it would lead to a situation where there is
